Minister of Rural Development Jairam Ramesh of India will visit Finland on 9–11 April at the invitation of Minister for International Development Heidi Hautala. Minister Ramesh has played a central role in seeking solutions to the problems of sustainable development in international forums. He took part, among others, in the UN Secretary General’s High-level Panel on Global Sustainability, where President Tarja Halonen served as co-chair.
On Wednesday, Minister Ramesh is participating in the Finnish Parliament’s theme day on sustainable development, delivering a talk on the sustainable and efficient use of natural resources.
During his visit, Minister Ramesh will meet Minister of Economic Affairs Jyri Häkämies, and will visit Turku and Eura.
